Resize an image to 3440×1440 pixels (UWQHD)

To resize an image to 3440×1440 px, enter 3440 × 1440 px and pick crop to fill so the 43:18 (2.39:1) frame is not stretched: a 4:3 phone photo loses 44.2% of its area (a centred 4032×1688 crop). The result has 4.95 megapixels; as a JPEG, a detailed outdoor photo is about 1.51 MB at the panel's default quality 85 (1.14 MB at quality 75).

What 3440×1440 means in pixels

3440×1440 is a landscape frame, 2.39 times as wide as it is tall, 4,953,600 pixels in total (4.95 megapixels). Its sides reduce to 43:18, a 2.39:1 strip that no camera or screen shape comes close to, so every photo needs a heavy crop to fill it.

That is 40.6% of a 12 MP phone frame; after the crop to fill the phone picture is reduced by 0.853×, so fine detail such as hair and text survives. Shown 1:1 it fills 3440×1440 CSS px on a standard screen and 1720×720 CSS px on a 2× (Retina-class) screen; at 72 DPI the same pixels span 47.8×20 inches.

Decoded for editing it occupies 18.9 MB of memory (4 bytes per pixel); uncompressed 24-bit RGB would be 14.2 MB, which is why the downloadable JPEG, PNG or WebP is far smaller.

Getting 3440×1440 from a phone, camera or screenshot

Filling 3440×1440 from a Full HD screenshot (1920×1080, 16:9) loses the least (25.6%); a vertical phone video frame (1080×1920, 9:16) loses the most (76.5%). "Fit inside" keeps the whole picture instead and the file comes out at the size in the last column; "Pad with colour" adds bars to reach the full 3440×1440.

Starting imageCrop to fill keepsArea lostScaleFit inside gives
12 MP phone photo (4032×3024, 4:3) 4032×1688 (top and bottom cut) 44.2% 0.853× (reduced) 1920×1440
24 MP camera photo (6000×4000, 3:2) 6000×2512 (top and bottom cut) 37.2% 0.573× (reduced) 2160×1440
Full HD screenshot (1920×1080, 16:9) 1920×804 (top and bottom cut) 25.6% 1.792× (enlarged) 2560×1440
Vertical phone video frame (1080×1920, 9:16) 1080×452 (top and bottom cut) 76.5% 3.185× (enlarged) 810×1440

When 3440×1440 means enlarging

After the crop to fill, the kept region has to be enlarged 1.792× from a Full HD screenshot and 3.185× from a vertical phone video frame. Enlarging adds pixels but no detail, so start from the largest original you have, or choose a smaller target if the destination allows it: 2560×1080 (UWFHD) or 2560×1440 (QHD) would need less stretching.

How many KB is a 3440×1440 image?

Estimated from encodes of real sample images measured with sharp 0.35.5 / libvips 8.18.7 on 31 October 2026, interpolated to 4,953,600 pixels. The outdoor photo at 3440×1440 is about 1.14 MB at quality 75 and a scanned page about 484 KB; your file will differ with detail and noise.

How to resize a picture to 3440×1440

  1. Add the picture

Drop, paste or pick the photo in the PixelFit panel at the top of this page; it is decoded in your browser and never uploaded.

  2. Set the size

Enter 3440 as the width and 1440 as the height in pixels (the panel is already set to 3440×1440).

  3. Choose how it fits

Choose crop to fill to keep the 43:18 (2.39:1) frame without stretching (a phone photo loses 44.2%, top and bottom cut). Fit inside keeps the whole picture as a 1920×1440 file instead; Pad with colour puts that on a full 3440×1440 canvas.

  4. Pick the format and download

Choose JPG or WebP; without a KB limit PixelFit saves JPG at quality 85, about 1.51 MB for a detailed outdoor photo. Add a KB limit if the upload has one or the file should be smaller, then download the 3440x1440 file.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image to 3440x1440?

Open the image in the PixelFit panel on this page, set 3440 × 1440 px, choose crop to fill so nothing is stretched and download. From a 12 MP phone photo that crops 44.2% (top and bottom cut) and scales the rest by 0.853×.

What aspect ratio is 3440x1440?

3440x1440 has an aspect ratio of 43:18 (2.39:1): landscape, width ÷ height = 2.3889. No other common target has exactly this ratio: the frame is 2.39 times as wide as it is tall, and the closest familiar shape is 2:1, 19.4% away, so converting between them means a visible crop.

Is 3440x1440 good for print?

At 300 DPI 3440x1440 prints 11.47×4.8 in (29.1×12.2 cm), enough for a print of that size at full density. At 150 DPI it stretches to 22.93×9.6 in.

How big is a 3440x1440 JPEG file?

For a detailed outdoor photo about 1.14 MB at quality 75 (892 KB at 60, 1.84 MB at 90, 1.51 MB at the panel's default quality 85); a head-and-shoulders portrait is about 392 KB at quality 75, estimated from measured encodes. A flat graphic is smaller, a noisy low-light photo larger.
