Privacy policy

Last updated

This policy explains what information PixelFit (littlepixelfit.com) handles when you use it. The short version: your photos never leave your device, the site sets no cookies, and we keep only anonymous page statistics plus, if you choose to join the Pro early-access list, your e-mail address.

Your photos and files stay on your device

When you drop, paste or pick an image in the image resizer or on any size page, your browser does all of the work: it decodes the file, reads its orientation, crops or pads it, resamples it to the pixel size you asked for, searches for the compression quality that meets your file-size target and encodes the result as JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF. When a Pro batch is saved as one ZIP file, the ZIP is also built on your device. None of these steps sends the image, its file name, its metadata or the result to us or to anyone else: there is no upload server. The result exists only in your browser's memory until you download it or close the page.

The "Try a sample photo" button loads a public sample image from this site, like any other file on the page. Settings you copy as a link (such as the target size and pixel dimensions) live in the address you share; our statistics record the page path without that part of the address.

Anonymous usage statistics (no cookies)

When a page loads, a small first-party script records an event containing the site name, the page path, the referring page (origin and path only, no query string), the event type (page view, a tool result, Pro interest, joining the early-access list or a checkout click), a timestamp and a random visit identifier. The visit identifier is generated in your browser and kept in session storage under the key mf-v, not in a cookie; it is replaced every day and disappears when you close the tab, and it only lets us count distinct visits. The script sets no cookies and records no name, e-mail address, image, file name or device identifier. A tool event says only that a result was produced, never what was in it. These events are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, operated by Google as our processor, and are used only to understand which pages are useful. Like any web request, the connection exposes your IP address to the hosting and storage providers; we do not store it in the events.

Pro early-access list

If you join the Pro early-access list, we store the e-mail address you enter, your optional answers (what would make Pro worth it and what you would pay), the site name, a timestamp and the random visit identifier, in Google Cloud Firestore. We use your address for one purpose only: to e-mail you once when Pro launches, with a founder discount. We do not send newsletters, sell or share the list, and the list cannot be read from the website. Removal requests need a contact address, which the contact page will list; none is published yet.

Payments

No payment is taken on this site today. When Pro opens, it will be sold through Link, Stripe's reseller, as the merchant of record: checkout will happen on a Stripe-hosted page, and Link will collect your payment details and share with us only what is needed for Pro, refunds and support. We will never see or store your full card number. The Link privacy policy and Stripe's privacy policy will apply to the data they process.

Data stored in your browser

The site keeps a few small values in your browser's own storage. They stay on your device and are never sent to us:

  • mf-theme (local storage): your light or dark choice, when you use the theme switch.
  • pro, pro_session and pro_since (local storage): after a purchase, the Pro flag, your checkout reference and the day Pro was activated, so Pro stays on in this browser. There are no accounts.
  • pixelfit-presets (local storage, a Pro feature): the target sizes, pixel dimensions and formats you choose to save as presets, so you can reuse them for the next form.
  • mf-v (session storage): the random visit identifier described above, gone when you close the tab.

You can remove all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Hosting

The site is served by Google Firebase Hosting, which processes standard request data such as IP address and user agent to deliver pages and protect against abuse. Pages load no third-party scripts, fonts or embedded frames.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, which in practice is limited to an early-access list entry and, once Pro is on sale, purchase and support records. No contact address is published yet (the contact page shows it when there is one), so these requests cannot be taken today; until then the only personal data we hold is an early-access list entry, if you made one.

Children

The site is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
