Resize an image to 640×360 pixels
To resize an image to 640×360 px, enter 640 × 360 px and pick crop to fill so the 16:9 frame is not stretched: a 4:3 phone photo loses 25% of its area (a centred 4032×2268 crop). The result has 0.23 megapixels; as a JPEG, a detailed outdoor photo is about 77.7 KB at the panel's default quality 85 (58 KB at quality 75).

What 640×360 means in pixels
640×360 is a landscape frame, 1.78 times as wide as it is tall, 230,400 pixels in total (0.23 megapixels). Its sides reduce to 16:9 (1.7778 as a decimal), so any picture cropped to 16:9 scales to it without distortion.
A 12 MP phone photo has 53 times as many pixels, so reaching 640×360 is a clean reduction with no invented detail. Shown 1:1 it fills 640×360 CSS px on a standard screen and 320×180 CSS px on a 2× (Retina-class) screen; at 72 DPI the same pixels span 8.9×5 inches.
Decoded for editing it occupies 900 KB of memory (4 bytes per pixel); uncompressed 24-bit RGB would be 675 KB, which is why the downloadable JPEG, PNG or WebP is far smaller.

Getting 640×360 from a phone, camera or screenshot
Filling 640×360 from a Full HD screenshot (1920×1080, 16:9) loses nothing; a vertical phone video frame (1080×1920, 9:16) loses the most (68.3%). "Fit inside" keeps the whole picture instead and the file comes out at the size in the last column; "Pad with colour" adds bars to reach the full 640×360. From the phone photo PixelFit takes the 4032×2268 crop through 2016×1134 and 1008×567 before the last step to 640×360, so each pass blends neighbouring pixels instead of skipping them.
| Starting image | Crop to fill keeps | Area lost | Scale | Fit inside gives |

How to resize a picture to 640×360
-
Add the picture
Drop, paste or pick the photo in the PixelFit panel at the top of this page; it is decoded in your browser and never uploaded.
-
Set the size
Enter 640 as the width and 360 as the height in pixels (the panel is already set to 640×360).
-
Choose how it fits
Choose crop to fill to keep the 16:9 frame without stretching (a phone photo loses 25%, top and bottom cut). Fit inside keeps the whole picture as a 480×360 file instead; Pad with colour puts that on a full 640×360 canvas.
-
Pick the format and download
Choose JPG or WebP; without a KB limit PixelFit saves JPG at quality 85, about 77.7 KB for a detailed outdoor photo. Add a KB limit if the upload has one or the file should be smaller, then download the 640x360 file.
