Resize an image to 2000×1000 pixels
To resize an image to 2000×1000 px, enter 2000 × 1000 px and pick crop to fill so the 2:1 frame is not stretched: a 4:3 phone photo loses 33.3% of its area (a centred 4032×2016 crop). The result has 2 megapixels; as a JPEG, a detailed outdoor photo is about 666 KB at the panel's default quality 85 (506 KB at quality 75).

What 2000×1000 means in pixels
2000×1000 is a landscape frame, 2 times as wide as it is tall, 2,000,000 pixels in total (2 megapixels). Its sides reduce to 2:1 (2 as a decimal), so any picture cropped to 2:1 scales to it without distortion.
That is 16.4% of a 12 MP phone frame; after the crop to fill the phone picture is reduced by 0.496×, so fine detail such as hair and text survives. Shown 1:1 it fills 2000×1000 CSS px on a standard screen and 1000×500 CSS px on a 2× (Retina-class) screen; at 72 DPI the same pixels span 27.8×13.9 inches.
Decoded for editing it occupies 7.63 MB of memory (4 bytes per pixel); uncompressed 24-bit RGB would be 5.72 MB, which is why the downloadable JPEG, PNG or WebP is far smaller.
Getting 2000×1000 from a phone, camera or screenshot
Filling 2000×1000 from a Full HD screenshot (1920×1080, 16:9) loses the least (11.1%); a vertical phone video frame (1080×1920, 9:16) loses the most (71.9%). "Fit inside" keeps the whole picture instead and the file comes out at the size in the last column; "Pad with colour" adds bars to reach the full 2000×1000. From the phone photo PixelFit takes the 4032×2016 crop through 2016×1008 before the last step to 2000×1000, so each pass blends neighbouring pixels instead of skipping them.
| Starting image | Crop to fill keeps | Area lost | Scale | Fit inside gives |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12 MP phone photo (4032×3024, 4:3) | 4032×2016 (top and bottom cut) | 33.3% | 0.496× (reduced) | 1333×1000 |
| 24 MP camera photo (6000×4000, 3:2) | 6000×3000 (top and bottom cut) | 25% | 0.333× (reduced) | 1500×1000 |
| Full HD screenshot (1920×1080, 16:9) | 1920×960 (top and bottom cut) | 11.1% | 1.042× (enlarged) | 1778×1000 |
| Vertical phone video frame (1080×1920, 9:16) | 1080×540 (top and bottom cut) | 71.9% | 1.852× (enlarged) | 563×1000 |
When 2000×1000 means enlarging
After the crop to fill, the kept region has to be enlarged 1.042× from a Full HD screenshot and 1.852× from a vertical phone video frame. Enlarging adds pixels but no detail, so start from the largest original you have, or choose a smaller target if the destination allows it: 1600×900 (HD+) or 1680×1050 (WSXGA+) would need less stretching.
How many KB is a 2000×1000 image?
Estimated from encodes of real sample images measured with sharp 0.35.5 / libvips 8.18.7 on 31 October 2026, interpolated to 2,000,000 pixels. The outdoor photo at 2000×1000 is about 506 KB at quality 75 and a scanned page about 236 KB; your file will differ with detail and noise.

Is 2000×1000 good for print?
Pixels carry no physical size until you pick a DPI. At 300 DPI, the resolution PixelFit uses for its print and ID photo sizes, 2000×1000 covers 6.67×3.33 in; at 150 DPI the same pixels stretch to 13.33×6.67 in with half the density.
| Resolution | Print size (inches) | Print size (cm) |

How to resize a picture to 2000×1000
-
Add the picture
Drop, paste or pick the photo in the PixelFit panel at the top of this page; it is decoded in your browser and never uploaded.
-
Set the size
Enter 2000 as the width and 1000 as the height in pixels (the panel is already set to 2000×1000).
-
Choose how it fits
Choose crop to fill to keep the 2:1 frame without stretching (a phone photo loses 33.3%, top and bottom cut). Fit inside keeps the whole picture as a 1333×1000 file instead; Pad with colour puts that on a full 2000×1000 canvas.
-
Pick the format and download
Choose JPG or WebP; without a KB limit PixelFit saves JPG at quality 85, about 666 KB for a detailed outdoor photo. Add a KB limit if the upload has one or the file should be smaller, then download the 2000x1000 file.

Frequently asked questions
How do I resize an image to 2000x1000?
Open the image in the PixelFit panel on this page, set 2000 × 1000 px, choose crop to fill so nothing is stretched and download. From a 12 MP phone photo that crops 33.3% (top and bottom cut) and scales the rest by 0.496×.
What aspect ratio is 2000x1000?
2000x1000 has an aspect ratio of 2:1: landscape, width ÷ height = 2. Sizes with the same ratio include 1000×500 landscape.
Is 2000x1000 good for print?
At 300 DPI 2000x1000 prints 6.67×3.33 in (16.9×8.5 cm), enough for a print of that size at full density. At 150 DPI it stretches to 13.33×6.67 in.
How big is a 2000x1000 JPEG file?
For a detailed outdoor photo about 506 KB at quality 75 (382 KB at 60, 808 KB at 90, 666 KB at the panel's default quality 85); a head-and-shoulders portrait is about 175 KB at quality 75, estimated from measured encodes. A flat graphic is smaller, a noisy low-light photo larger.
How does 2000x1000 look on a high-density screen?
On a 2× screen 2000x1000 is sharp when shown at 1000×500 CSS px; shown larger, the browser enlarges it. A slot of 2000×1000 CSS px on a 2× screen needs a 4000×2000 file.
