Resize an image to 1200×630 pixels
To resize an image to 1200×630 px, enter 1200 × 630 px and pick crop to fill so the 40:21 (about 1.91:1) frame is not stretched: a 4:3 phone photo loses 30% of its area (a centred 4032×2117 crop). The result has 0.76 megapixels; as a JPEG, a detailed outdoor photo is about 253 KB at the panel's default quality 85 (191 KB at quality 75).

What 1200×630 means in pixels
1200×630 is a landscape frame, 1.9 times as wide as it is tall, 756,000 pixels in total (0.76 megapixels). Its sides only reduce to 40:21; that is 0.3% away from the familiar 1.91:1 shape, so a 1.91:1 crop needs only a sliver trimmed to land on exactly 1200×630.
A 12 MP phone photo has 16 times as many pixels, so reaching 1200×630 is a clean reduction with no invented detail. Shown 1:1 it fills 1200×630 CSS px on a standard screen and 600×315 CSS px on a 2× (Retina-class) screen; at 72 DPI the same pixels span 16.7×8.8 inches.
Decoded for editing it occupies 2.88 MB of memory (4 bytes per pixel); uncompressed 24-bit RGB would be 2.16 MB, which is why the downloadable JPEG, PNG or WebP is far smaller.

Getting 1200×630 from a phone, camera or screenshot
Filling 1200×630 from a Full HD screenshot (1920×1080, 16:9) loses the least (6.7%); a vertical phone video frame (1080×1920, 9:16) loses the most (70.5%). "Fit inside" keeps the whole picture instead and the file comes out at the size in the last column; "Pad with colour" adds bars to reach the full 1200×630. From the phone photo PixelFit takes the 4032×2117 crop through 2016×1058 before the last step to 1200×630, so each pass blends neighbouring pixels instead of skipping them.
| Starting image | Crop to fill keeps | Area lost | Scale | Fit inside gives |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12 MP phone photo (4032×3024, 4:3) | 4032×2117 (top and bottom cut) | 30% | 0.298× (reduced) | 840×630 |
| 24 MP camera photo (6000×4000, 3:2) | 6000×3150 (top and bottom cut) | 21.3% | 0.2× (reduced) | 945×630 |
| Full HD screenshot (1920×1080, 16:9) | 1920×1008 (top and bottom cut) | 6.7% | 0.625× (reduced) | 1120×630 |
| Vertical phone video frame (1080×1920, 9:16) | 1080×567 (top and bottom cut) | 70.5% | 1.111× (enlarged) | 354×630 |
When 1200×630 means enlarging
After the crop to fill, the kept region has to be enlarged 1.111× from a vertical phone video frame. Enlarging adds pixels but no detail, so start from the largest original you have, or choose a smaller target if the destination allows it: 1080×566 landscape or 1000×500 landscape would need less stretching.
How many KB is a 1200×630 image?
Estimated from encodes of real sample images measured with sharp 0.35.5 / libvips 8.18.7 on 31 October 2026, interpolated to 756,000 pixels. The outdoor photo at 1200×630 is about 191 KB at quality 75 and a scanned page about 110 KB; your file will differ with detail and noise.

How to resize a picture to 1200×630
-
Add the picture
Drop, paste or pick the photo in the PixelFit panel at the top of this page; it is decoded in your browser and never uploaded.
-
Set the size
Enter 1200 as the width and 630 as the height in pixels (the panel is already set to 1200×630).
-
Choose how it fits
Choose crop to fill to keep the 40:21 (about 1.91:1) frame without stretching (a phone photo loses 30%, top and bottom cut). Fit inside keeps the whole picture as an 840×630 file instead; Pad with colour puts that on a full 1200×630 canvas.
-
Pick the format and download
Choose JPG or WebP; without a KB limit PixelFit saves JPG at quality 85, about 253 KB for a detailed outdoor photo. Add a KB limit if the upload has one or the file should be smaller, then download the 1200x630 file.

Frequently asked questions
How do I resize an image to 1200x630?
Open the image in the PixelFit panel on this page, set 1200 × 630 px, choose crop to fill so nothing is stretched and download. From a 12 MP phone photo that crops 30% (top and bottom cut) and scales the rest by 0.298×.
What aspect ratio is 1200x630?
1200x630 has an aspect ratio of 40:21 (about 1.91:1): landscape, width ÷ height = 1.9048. Sizes with the same ratio include 600×315 link preview image.
Is 1200x630 good for print?
At 300 DPI 1200x630 prints 4×2.1 in (10.2×5.3 cm), enough for a print of that size at full density. At 150 DPI it stretches to 8×4.2 in.
How big is a 1200x630 JPEG file?
For a detailed outdoor photo about 191 KB at quality 75 (143 KB at 60, 308 KB at 90, 253 KB at the panel's default quality 85); a head-and-shoulders portrait is about 80.2 KB at quality 75, estimated from measured encodes. A flat graphic is smaller, a noisy low-light photo larger.
How does 1200x630 look on a high-density screen?
On a 2× screen 1200x630 is sharp when shown at 600×315 CSS px; shown larger, the browser enlarges it. A slot of 1200×630 CSS px on a 2× screen needs a 2400×1260 file.
