Malaysia ESD upload specifications
Values for the Malaysia ESD (Expatriate Services Division) online photo, copied from Immigration Department of Malaysia ESD: Sample of Photo, photo requirements, checked 31 October 2026; "not stated" means the source gives no figure for it.
| Upload | Pixel size | Print size | File size | Format | Background |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 413 × 591 px at 300 DPI (computed; the tool uses this) | 35 × 50 mm | at most 25 KB | format not stated | not stated |
Malaysia ESD sizes in pixels and millimetres
Print sizes become pixels at a resolution (pixels = mm ÷ 25.4 × DPI); pixel sizes become print sizes the other way round. Computed for the Malaysia ESD uploads at 200 and 300 DPI.
| Upload | Aspect ratio | Megapixels | At 200 DPI | At 300 DPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 7:10 (print size) | 0.24 MP at 300 DPI | 276 × 394 px | 413 × 591 px |
What the Malaysia ESD KB limits mean in bytes
The Malaysia ESD photo limit of 25 KB is 25,600 bytes when 1 KB = 1,024 bytes and 25,000 bytes when 1 KB = 1,000 bytes; a file of 25,000 bytes or less passes either way.
Estimated JPG file size for Malaysia ESD uploads
Estimated from sizes measured with sharp 0.35.5 / libvips 8.18.7 on public-domain sample images (31 October 2026), interpolated to each target size. Your own scan can land 30-50% either side, which is why the tool measures the real file.
| Upload | Pixel size used | Quality 60 | Quality 75 | Quality 85 | Quality 95 | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 413 × 591 px | 26.3 KB | 33.9 KB | 44.8 KB | 78.6 KB | at most 25 KB |
Will the Malaysia ESD photo fit the limit?
A portrait for the Malaysia ESD photo at 413 × 591 px (35 × 50 mm at 300 DPI) is about 26.3 KB even at JPG quality 60, over the 25 KB limit. With the size fixed by the preset, the tool keeps lowering JPG quality (down to quality 5) and reports the smallest file it reaches; if that is still too big, clear the width and height in the panel so it can scale the picture down.
